The company noted that in the September quarter, growth momentum continued in the Asia, Oceania and Africa (AOA) Zone

Nestle S.A on Wednesday said brands such as Maggi and Kitkat have been witnessing strong growth in the India market supported by focused investments, and there is headroom for further expansion. Earlier this year, the company had said India has become the largest market for Kitkat, while maintaining its position as the largest market for Maggi globally.

Commenting on emerging markets performance, on the quarterly earnings call, Philipp Navratil, Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé S.A said, “India is a call-out on both Maggi and KitKat. As you see, this is driven by our billionaire brands that again receive focused investment there. Maggi, KitKat, but also Milo are performing really well in the food and snacks category.”

The company noted that in the September quarter, growth momentum continued in the Asia, Oceania and Africa (AOA) Zone, as India recorded 20 per cent organic growth while the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Japan, and Malaysia and Singapore also reported double-digit growth.

Well-established base

Talking about the noodles segment, Navratil said, “We have a well-established base (for noodles portfolio) in Zone AOA, especially India, Malaysia and Singapore. And we have lots of headroom to grow here — driving further category penetration and market share. We are also excited about opportunities beyond Asia.”

“Noodles is an attractive category, as consumers increasingly move between traditional meals and smaller, convenient eating occasions. At the same time, consumers — particularly younger consumers — are looking to world cuisine for bolder flavours and more exciting meal experiences,” he noted.

Last week, Nestle India said total sales grew 20.5 per cent to ₹6,782.2 crore in the September quarter. The company said that the confectionery product portfolio recorded volume led double-digit growth in the quarter driven by continued market share gains in Kitkat. At the same time, the company said it has been expanding rural penetration of Maggi Noodles.
